MINES RESCUE (VALIDATION)

ACT.

An Act to validate certain acts of the committees for the time being of the Southern Mines Rescue Station District and of the Western Mines Rescue Station District; and for purposes connected therewith. [Assented to, loth August, 1938.]

Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :—

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the "Mines Rescue (Validation) Act, 1938."

(2) This Act shall be read and construed with the Mines Rescue Act, 1925.
2 . (1) The following acts of the committees for the time being of the Southern Mines Rescue Station District and of the Western Mines Rescue Station District are hereby validated:—

(a) the repayment by the committee for the time being of either such district by instalments over a period of ten years of the capital contribution paid by each owner of mines in its district together with interest at the rate of six per centum per annum (or at that rate as reduced by or under the Interest Reduction Act, 1931, as amended by subsequent Acts) to such owner or to his successors or assigns;

(b)

the allowance or set off by the committee for the time being of either such district of the amount of any such instalment, either in whole or in part, in satisfaction, either in whole or in part,

of

of any contribution payable under the Mines Rescue Act, 1925, by any such owner or any successor or assign of any such owner which was based upon the amount of coal or shale won from the mine during any year after the year ending on the thirty-first day of December, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-five.

(2) In this section "capital contribution" means that part of the contribution payable under the Mines Rescue Act, 1925, by the owners of mines, which was based upon the amount of coal or shale won from the mines dur- ing the year ending on the thirty-first day of December, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-five, and which was appropriated to meet the cost of the erection and equipment of the rescue station in the Southern Mines Eescue Station District or in the Western Mines Rescue Station District.
