MINES RESCUE (AMENDMENT) ACT.

Act No. 51 , 1955.

An Act to make further provision in relation to the conditions of employment of

members of permanent rescue corps established at central rescue stations and in relation to the staffing of those stations; for these purposes to amend the Mines Rescue Act, 1925, in certain respects: and for purposes connected therewith. [Assented to, 13th December, 1955.]

Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :—

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the "Mines Rescue

(Amendment) Act, 1955."

(2) The Mines Rescue Act, 1925, as amended by this Act, may be cited as the Mines Rescue Act, 1925- 1955.

2. (1) The Mines Rescue Act, 1925, is amended—

(ii)

(a)

by omitting paragraph (d) of subsection one of section fourteen;

(b)

by inserting at the end of the same subsection the following new paragraphs:—

(f) It shall bo a condition of the employment of a member of the corps that—

(i)   he shall reside within immediate call of the station;

(ii)   he shall not go beyond immediate call of the station without first notifying the superintendent or other the person for the time being acting for the superinten­ dent of his intention to do so and of his intended whereabouts during the period of absence; and

(iii)   he shall, if during any such period of absence his where­ abouts become different from those notified under subpara­ graph (ii) of this paragraph, take all reasonable steps to keep the superintendent or other the person for the time being acting for the superintendent notified of his present whereabouts.

This paragraph does not apply to or in respect of a member of the corps who is absent from duty due to illness or on leave under and in accordance with an award made by a competent industrial authority.

(g)

The superintendent shall ensure that not less than two members of the corps are within immediate call of the station at all

times. In this paragraph "member of the
corps" includes a person selected and
trained pursuant to subsection two of this
section.

(2) The amendment made by paragraph (a) of subsection one of this section shall be deemed to have commenced on the first day of November, one thousand nine hundred and fifty-five.
