PROVISIONAL REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE ACT 1903-1912.

Regulation for the Military Forces of the Commonwealth—Regulation 78d—Amendment.

I, THE GOVERNOR-General in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby certify that, on account of urgency, the following Regulation under the Defence Act 1903-1912 should come into immediate operation, and make the Regulation to come into operation forthwith as a Provisional Regulation.

REGULATIONS FOR THE MILITARY FORCES OF THE COMMONWEALTH.

Amendment.

Regulation 78d, which reads as follows:—

“78d. An Aviation Instructional Staff, the members of which shall provide the personnel of a Central Flying School, may be established as a portion of the Instructional Staff of the Commonwealth Military Forces.

“The Aviation Instructional Staff may be composed of such officers, honorary officers, and other ranks as may be laid down from time to time, and their duties shall be as prescribed by the Military Board.”

is cancelled, and the following substituted therefor:—

“78d.An Aviation Instructional Staff, the members of which shall provide the personnel of a Central Flying School, may be established as a portion of the Instructional Staff of the Commonwealth Military Forces.

“The Aviation Instructional Staff may be composed of such officers, honorary officers, and other ranks as may be laid down from time to time, and their duties shall be as prescribed by the Military Board.”

“The appointment of Officers to the Aviation Instructional Staff shall be made to the rank of Lieutenant, provisionally, upon such conditions as may be approved by the Military Board from time to time.

“Officers shall be required to pass a qualifying examination for confirmation of their provisional appointments within eighteen months.

“The syllabus ofthe qualifying examination shall be as approved by the Military Board.”
