PROVISIONAL REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE ACTS 1903–1904.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby certify that on account of urgency the following Regulation under the Defence Acts 1903–1904 should come into immediate operation, and make the Regulation to come into operation forthwith as a Provisional Regulation.

Regulations for the Military Forces of the Commonwealth.

Regulation 67.—Line 1, after “appointment” insert “in the Royal Australian Artillery.” Lines 17 to 21 are cancelled and the following substituted:—

“To be eligible for appointment in the Corps of Australian Engineers (Permanent Sections) a candidate must be between the ages of 20 and 30 years, be certified by a Medical Board to be physically qualified, and must have—

(a)Served as a pupil for three years in engineering workshops, during which one year shall have been spent in the drafting office; or

(b)served for three years as an articled pupil, or its equivalent, in a reputable civil engineering, electrical engineering, or architectural firm, or in a Government engineering or architectural office; or

(c)completed the three years course for a degree of Bachelor of Engineering, or its equivalent, in any university or technical school.”
