PROVISIONAL REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE ACTS 1903–1904.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby certify that, on account of urgency, the following Regulation under the Defence Acts 1903–1904 should come into operation as from the 1st July, 1909, and make the Regulation to come into operation accordingly as a Provisional Regulation.

Regulations (Provisional) for the Military Forces of the Commonwealth.

Additions.

Add new Regulation—

2a. Imperial General Staff—Commonwealth Section.  The Commonwealth Section of the Imperial General Staff shall comprise:—

(a) The Head-Quarters Section,

(b) The General Staff in Districts.

The control and direction of the Section shall be vested in the Chief of the Commonwealth Section of the Imperial General Staff, who will be assisted at Head-quarters by—

(a) Director of Defence Organization;.

(b) Director of Military Training;

(c) Director of Intelligence.

The Commonwealth Section of the Imperial General Staff in Districts shall consist of such officers of the Permanent and Citizen Forces as may be approved.
