General Officers.

1. Regulation 10 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended—

(a)by omitting from sub-regulation (4.) the words “The rate” and inserting in their stead the words “Subject to the next succeeding sub-regulation, the rate”; and

(b)by adding at the end thereof the following sub-regulation:—

“(5.) The rate of pay payable to a medical officer or dental officer who holds the rank of brigadier is a consolidated rate of pay of Five thousand two hundred and five pounds per year.”.

Members other than General Officers.

2. Regulation 11 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended—

(a) by inserting after sub-regulation (1.) the following sub-regulations:—

“(1a.) Subject to the next succeeding sub-regulation, the rate of pay of a male member other than a member referred to in the last preceding regulation who is a medical officer or a dental officer is the rate per day specified in relation to his rank and length of service in the rank in Table 1a.

“(1b.) The rate of pay of a medical officer who is a captain in the Regular Army Supplement and holds a position as a resident medical officer at a hospital is Five pounds three shillings and ninepence per day.”;

(b)by inserting in sub-regulation (14.), after the words “Subject to”, the words “the next succeeding sub-regulation and”; and

(c) by inserting after sub-regulation (14.) the following sub-regulation:—

“(14a.) The rate of pay of a female member who is 8 medical officer or a dental officer is the rate of pay per day specified in relation to her rank and length of service in the rank in Table 9.”.

(f) Made under the Defence Act 1903-1965 on 10 June, 1965; notified in the Commonwealth Gazette on 18 June, 1965.

3. Regulation 26 of the Military Financial Regulations is repealed and the following regulation inserted in its stead:—

Special allowance for Brigadier who in a medical or denial officer.

“26. A Brigadier who is a medical or dental officer may be paid an allowance at the rate of Two hundred and forty pounds per annum.”.

Members other than member holding senior appointments.

4. Regulation 172 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended—

(a)by inserting after sub-regulation (1.) the following sub-regulation:—

“(1a.) The rate of pay of a male member who is a medical officer or a dental officer (other than a member holding, or performing the duties of, an appointment specified in Table 1 in the Third Schedule to these Regulations) is the rate per day specified in relation to his rank in Table 2a.”;

(b)by omitting from sub-regulation (3.) the words “The rate” (first occurring) and inserting in their stead the words “Subject to the next succeeding sub-regulation, the rate”; and

(c) by inserting after sub-regulation (3.) the following sub-regulation:—

“(3a.) The rate per day of a female member who is a medical officer or a dental officer is the rate per day specified in relation to her rank in Table 5.”.

Repeat of regulation 180.

5. Regulation 180 of the Military Financial Regulations is repealed.

Second Schedule.

6.—(1.) The Second Schedule to the Military Financial Regulations is amended by inserting after Table 1 the following Table:—

Fifth Schedule.

8. The Fifth Schedule to the Military Financial Regulations is repealed.

Application.

9.—(1.) The rates of pay specified in Table 2 in the Second Schedule to the Military Financial Regulations as amended by regulation 6 of these Regulations apply in relation to service as a chaplain of the Permanent Military Forces on and after the twenty-sixth day of June, 1964.

(2.) The rates of pay specified in Table 3 in the Third Schedule to the Military Financial Regulations as amended by regulation 7 of these Regulations apply in relation to service as a chaplain of the Citizen Military Forces on and after the first day of July, 1964.

(3.) The rate of pay specified in sub-regulation (5.) of regulation 10 of the Military Financial Regulations as amended by regulation 1 of these Regulations and the allowance provided for in regulation 26 of the Military

Financial Regulations as amended by regulation 3 of these Regulations apply in respect of service of a Brigadier who is a medical or dental officer on and after the twenty-sixth day of June, 1964.

(4.) The daily rate of pay that would, but for this sub-regulation, be the rate of pay—

(a)for an officer in relation to whom Table 1a or Table 9 in the Second Schedule to the Military Financial Regulations as amended by these Regulations applies, in respect of service on a day in the period from and including the twenty-sixth day of June, 1964, to and including the day immediately before the commencement of this regulation; or

(b)for an officer in relation to whom Table 2a or Table 5 in the Third Schedule to the Military Financial Regulations as amended by these Regulations applies, in respect of service on a day in the period from and including the first day of July, 1964, to and including the day immediately before the date of commencement of this regulation,

is increased by the amount by which the sum of the pay of the officer in respect of that day and the allowance payable in respect of that day by virtue of regulation 26 or regulation 180, as the case requires, of the Military Financial Regulations as in force on that day is less than the pay would have been if the amendments effected by these Regulations had been in force on that day.

(5.) The daily rate of pay of an officer referred to in paragraph (a)of the last preceding sub-regulation in respect of a day in the period from and including the twenty-first day of April, 1964, to and including the twenty-fifth day of June, 1964, is increased to the rate that would be the rate of pay of the officer in respect of that day if it were a day in the period referred to in paragraph (a)of the last preceding sub-regulation less an amount of—

(a)in the case of a male officer—Three shillings and fourpence; and

(b)in the case of a female officer—Two shillings and eightpence.

(6.) The rates of pay specified in Part A of Table 8 in the Second Schedule to the Military Financial Regulations as amended by these Regulations apply in respect of service, on and after the twenty-sixth day of June, 1964, of a member of the Royal Australian Army Nursing Corps or the Women’s Royal Australian Army Corps appointed or enlisted for service in the Australian Regular Army or in the Regular Army Supplement.

(7.) The rates of pay specified in Table 4 in the Third Schedule to the Military Financial Regulations as amended by these Regulations apply in respect of service, on and after the first day of July, 1964, of a member of the Royal Australian Army Nursing Corps or the Women’s Royal Australian Army Corps appointed or enlisted for service in the Citizen Military Forces.
