REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE ACT 1903-1966.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Defence Act 1903-1966.

Amendments of the Military Financial Regulations.  

Consolidated rates of pay— General Officers.

1. Regulation 11 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended—

(a)by omitting from sub-regulation (3.) the words “Eleven thousand five hundred and twenty-three dollars” and inserting in their stead the words “Twelve thousand six hundred and five dollars”; and

(b) by omitting from sub-regulation (4.) the words “Nine thousand eight hundred and nineteen dollars” and inserting in their stead the words “Ten thousand six hundred and five dollars”.

2.—(1.) Regulation 12 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended by omitting the table in sub-regulation (1.) and inserting in its stead the following table:—

(2.) Regulation 12 of the Military Financial Regulations is further amended by omitting sub-regulations (3.) and (4.) and inserting in their stead the following sub-regulations:—

“(3.) The rate of pay of a medical officer who is a captain in the Regular Army Supplement and holds a position as a resident medical officer at a hospital is Eleven dollars four cents per day.

 “(4.) The rate of pay of a chaplain is the rate per day specified in relation to his classification and length of service in the classification in the following table:—

(3.) Regulation 12 of the Military Financial Regulations is further amended—

(a)by omitting from sub-regulation (6.) the words “Fourteen dollars and twenty-six cents” and inserting in their stead the words “Fourteen dollars sixty-three cents”;

(b) by omitting from that sub-regulation the words “Fourteen dollars and seventy-six cents” and inserting in their stead the words “Fifteen dollars fifteen cents”; and

(c) by omitting from sub-regulation (7.) the words “Four dollars and thirty-four cents” and inserting in their stead the words “Four dollars forty-seven cents”,

(4.) Regulation 12 of the Military Financial Regulations is further amended by omitting the table in sub-regulation (8.) and inserting in its stead the following table:—

Application.

5.—(1.) Except as provided in the next succeeding sub-regulation, the rates of pay provided for in the Military Financial Regulations as amended by these Regulations apply in respect of service in the Permanent Military Forces or the Citizen Military Forces, as the case requires, on and after the third day of February, 1967.

(2.) The rates of pay provided for in regulation 11 of the Military Financial Regulations as amended by these Regulations apply in respect of service in the Permanent Military Forces on and after the twenty-third day of December, 1966.

(3.) The rates of pay specified, in relation to members of the Citizen Military Forces holding the rank of Major General and Brigadier, respectively, in the table in sub-regulation (1.) of regulation 190 of the Military Financial Regulations as amended by these Regulations apply in relation to service in those forces on and after the twenty-third day of December, 1966.

Transitional.

6.—(1.) A member of the Military Forces who was included in a class of such members specified in an item in the following table on any day during the period specified in that item is, by virtue of this regulation, entitled to be paid extra pay in respect of that day at the rate specified in that item:—
