REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE ACT 1903-1970.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Defence Act 1903-1970.

Amendments of the Military Financial Regulations 

Consolidated rates of pay—general officers.

1.—(1.) Regulation 11 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended—

(a)by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the words “Eighteen thousand eight hundred and ninety-one dollars” and inserting in their stead the words “Eighteen thousand nine hundred and ninety-five dollars”; and

(b) by omitting from sub-regulation (2.) the words “Fifteen thousand eight hundred and seventy-nine dollars” and inserting in their stead the words “Fifteen thousand nine hundred and eighty-three dollars”.

(2.) Regulation 11 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended by omitting the table in sub-regulation (3.) and inserting in its stead the following table:—

7. Regulation 12b of the Military Financial Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting sub-regulation (2.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation:—

“(2.) The daily rate of pay of a soldier, whether male or female, who is a recruit for the purpose of this regulation is Six dollars seventy-five cents.”; and

(b) by omitting sub-regulation (4.).

(2.) Regulation 12d of the Military Financial Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (3.) the words “Six dollars twelve cents” and inserting in their stead the words “Six dollars forty cents”.

Higher duties allowance.

11. Regulation 28 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-regulation (4.) the word “Where” and inserting in its stead the words “Subject to sub-regulation (5c.) of this regulation, where”; and

(b) by omitting from sub-regulation (5e.) the words “the last preceding sub-regulation” and inserting in their stead the words “sub-regulation (5c.) of this regulation”.

District allowance.

12. Regulation 41 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended by omitting paragraph (b)of sub-regulation (3.) and inserting in its stead the following paragraph:—

“(b) classify that isolated district in a grade referred to in sub-regulation (4b.) of this regulation.”.

Rates of travelling allowance.

13.—(1.) Regulation 99 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (2.) the words “Twenty-eight dollars” and inserting in their stead the words “Thirty-four dollars”.

(2.) The rate of travelling allowance specified in sub-regulation (2.) of regulation 99 of the Military Financial Regulations as amended by the last preceding sub-regulation applies in relation to travelling allowance paid or payable to a member holding the office of Chief of the General Staff in respect of the seventeenth day of May, 1972, or any subsequent day.
