Military Financial Regulations2 (Amendment)

I, THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR AVIATION acting for and on behalf of the Minister of State for Defence, hereby make the following Interim Determination under section 12 of the Defence Amendment Act 1979.

Rates of salary—Corps of Staff Cadets

1. Regulation 12aa of the Military Financial Regulations is repealed.

Allowances payable in respect of authorized journey

2. Regulation 98 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting the table in paragraph (b) of sub-regulation (1) and substituting the following table:

(c) by omitting from sub-regulation (3) “$7.00” and “$5.25” and substituting “$8.10” and “$6.10”, respectively.

Meal allowance

3. Regulation 107 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended by omitting paragraphs (a), (b) and (c) of sub-regulation (2) and substituting the following paragraphs:

“(a) for breakfast—$5.25;

(b) for lunch—$6.30; and

(c) for dinner—$8.50.”.

Application

4. The Military Financial Regulations as amended by clauses 2 and 3 of this Interim Determination apply in relation to an authorized journey within the meaning of Division 10 of Part II of those Regulations, or part of such an authorized journey, made on or after 10 October 1983.

Transitional

5. Where an amount has been retained from a cadet’s salary in accordance with regulation 12aa of the Military Financial Regulations that amount shall be refunded to him upon the repeal of regulation 12aa.
