REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE ACT 1903-1956.*

I, THE ADMINISTRATOR of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Defence Act 1903-1956.

AMENDMENTS OF THE MILITARY FINANCIAL REGULATIONS. 

Commencement.

1. These Regulations shall be deemed to have come into operation on the fourteenth day of July, 1961.

General Officers.

2. Regulation 10 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (3.) the words “Four thousand seven hundred and seventy-seven pounds” and inserting in their stead the words “Four thousand eight hundred and eight pounds”.

Members other than General Officers.

3. Regulation 11 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended by inserting after sub-regulation (14.) the following sub-regulations:—

“(14A.) The rate of pay payable to a member under whichever of sub-regulations (1.), (2.), (3.), (4.) and (7.) of this regulation is applicable in relation to the member shall be increased by One shilling and sixpence per day.

“(14B.) The rate of pay payable to a member under sub-regulation (14.) of this regulation shall be increased by One shilling per day.”.

Marriage allowance.

4. Regulation 15 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the words “Eight shillings” and inserting in their stead the words “Eight shillings and threepence”; and

(b)by omitting from sub-regulations (3.) and (5.) the words “Thirteen shillings and sixpence” (wherever occurring) and inserting in their stead the words “Fourteen shillings”.

Qualifying allotment for payment of full rate of marriage allowance.

5. Regulation 18 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from paragraph (a)of sub-regulation (1.) the words “One pound one shilling and sixpence” and inserting in their stead the words “One pound two shillings and threepence”; and

(b) by omitting from paragraph (b)of sub-regulation (1.) the words “One pound eight shillings and sixpence” and inserting in their stead the words “One pound nine shillings and threepence”.

General provisions relating to eligibility for certain allowances.

6. Regulation 23 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-paragraph (i) of paragraph (a) of sub-regulation (3.) the words “Fourteen shillings and ninepence” and inserting in their stead the words “Fifteen shillings and threepence”;

(b) by omitting from sub-paragraph (ii) of paragraph (a)of sub-regulation (3.) the words “One pound one shilling and ninepence” and inserting in their stead the words “One pound two shillings and threepence”;

(c) by omitting from sub-paragraph (i) of paragraph (b)of sub-regulation (3.) the words “Eight shillings” and inserting in their stead the words “Eight shillings and threepence”; and

(d) by omitting from sub-paragraph (ii) of paragraph (b)of sub-regulation (3.) the words “Fifteen shillings” and inserting in their stead the words “Fifteen shillings and threepence”.

Oversea living out allowance.

7. Regulation 148 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended—

(a)by omitting from the table in sub-regulation (2.) the figures “846”, “821”, “698”, “648”, “625”, “602”, “577”, “564”, “564” and “495” and inserting in their stead the figures “851”, “826”, “703”, “653”, “630”, “607”, “582”, “569”, “569” and “500”, respectively;

(b) by omitting from the table in paragraph (b)of sub-regulation (5.) the figures “821”, “796”, “673”, “623”, “600”, “577”, “552”, “539”, “539” and “470” and inserting in their stead the figures “826”, “801”, “678”, “628”, “605”, “582”, “557”, “544”, “544” and “475”, respectively; and

(c) by omitting from the table in paragraph (c) of sub-regulation(5.) the figures “3,001”, “2,886”, “2,781”, “2,666”, “2,561” and “2,561” and inserting in their stead the figures “3,012”, “2,897”, “2,792”, “2,677”, “2,572” and “2,572”, respectively.

Oversea living in allowance.

8. Regulation 149 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended—

(a) by inserting in paragraph (a)of sub-regulation (2.), after the words “where the member is serving”, the words “on long term duty”; and

(b) by inserting after paragraph (a) of sub-regulation (2.) the following paragraph:—

“(aa)where the member is serving on intermediate term duty in the United Kingdom, the rate per annum specified for his rank according to his marital condition, in the following table:—

9. Regulation 172 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended by inserting after sub-regulation (5.) the following sub-regulations:—

“(5A.) The rate of pay payable to a member under whichever of sub-regulations (1.), (2.), (4.) and (5.) of this regulation is applicable in relation to the member shall be increased by One shilling and sixpence per day.

“(5B) The rate of pay payable to a member under sub-regulation (3.) of this regulation shall be increased by One shilling per day.”.

Marriage allowance.

10. Regulation 177 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the words “Eight shillings” and inserting in their stead the words “Eight shillings and threepence”.

Officers of cadets—marriage allowance.

11. Regulation 202 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the words “Eight shillings” and inserting in their stead the words “Eight shillings and threepence”.

Living out allowance—unmarried members.

12. Regulation 223 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the words “Nine shillings and sixpence” and inserting in their stead the words “Nine shillings and ninepence”.

Retention of lodgings allowance—P.M.F.

13. Regulation 227 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended by omitting from paragraph (a) of sub-regulation (4.) the words “Nine shillings and sixpence” and inserting in their stead the words “Nine shillings and ninepence”.

Retention of lodgings allowance—C.M.F.

14. Regulation 228 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the words “Nine shillings and sixpence” and inserting in their stead the words “Nine shillings and ninepence”.

Second Schedule.

15.—(1.) The Second Schedule to the Military Financial Regulations is amended by omitting from Table 4 the figures “1 1 4”, “1 6 0” and “1 12 11” (wherever occurring) and inserting in their stead the figures “1 2 3”, “1 6 11” and “1 14 5”, respectively.

(2.) The Second Schedule to the Military Financial Regulations is amended by omitting Table 6 and inserting in its stead the following Table:—
