REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE ACT 1903-1956.*

I, THE ADMINISTRATOR of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the DefenceAct 1903-1956.

Amendments of the Military Financial Regulations. 

Accommodation allowances on a removal or on return from overseas.

1. Regulation 118 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended by omitting from paragraph (h) of sub-regulation (4.) the words “Command Secretary” and inserting in their stead the words “Command Paymaster”.

Rental allowance on occupying furnished premises in new locality.

2. Regulation 120 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended by omitting the words “Command Secretary” (wherever occurring) and inserting in their stead the words “Command Paymaster”.

Child education allowance.

3.—(1.) Regulation 151 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the words “Two hundred and fifty pounds” and inserting in their stead the words “Three hundred and thirty pounds”.

(2.) The amendment of regulation 151 of the Military Financial Regulations effected by the last preceding sub-regulation applies in relation to child education allowance payable in respect of the year commencing on the first day of January, 1962, or any part of that year, and all subsequent years.

Efficiency allowance.

4. Regulation 208 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended by omitting from paragraph (g) of sub-regulation (5.) all words after the words “school unit”.

5.—(1.) The Second Schedule to the Military Financial Regulations is amended by omitting Table 7 and inserting in its stead the following Table:—

(2.) The rates of pay specified in the Table inserted in the Second Schedule to the Military Financial Regulations by the last preceding sub-regulation apply in respect of any service of native members in the Australian Regular Army on and after the second day of January, 1961.

Transititional provision.

6. An approval given by a Command Secretary under paragraph (h) of sub-regulation (4.) of regulation 118 of the Military Financial Regulations, or under paragraph (e) of sub-regulation (3.) of regulation 120 of those Regulations, for the continuation of an allowance for a period commencing or continuing after the commencement of these Regulations has effect after that commencement as if it had been given by a Command Paymaster under the Military Financial Regulations as amended by regulation 1 or regulation 2, as the case may be, of these Regulations.
