REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE ACT 1903-1956.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Defence Act 1903-1956.

AMENDMENTS OF THE MILITARY FINANCIAL REGULATIONS.  

Members other than General Officers.

1. Regulation 11 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulations (14A.), (14B.) and (14C.).

Special allowance for medical officers and dental officers.

2.—(1.) Regulation 26 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from paragraph (b)of sub-regulation (1.) the words “Two pounds four shillings and three pence” and inserting in their stead the words “Two pounds eight shillings and tenpence”; and

(b) by omitting from paragraph (c) of sub-regulation (1.) the words “Two pounds one shilling” and inserting in their stead the words “Two pounds five shillings and sixpence”.

(2.) Special allowance is payable to a medical officer or a dental officer in accordance with regulation 26 of the Military Financial Regulations as amended by the last preceding sub-regulation in respect of service on and after the third day of May, 1963.

Members other than members holding senior appointments.

3. Regulation 172 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulations (5A.) and (5B.).

Special allowance for medical and dental officers.

4.—(1.) Regulation 180 of the Military Financial Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from paragraph (b)of sub-regulation (1.) the words “Two pounds four shillings and threepence” and inserting in their stead the words “Two pounds eight shillings and ten-pence”; and

(b) by omitting from paragraph (c) of sub-regulation (1.) the words “Two pounds one shilling” and inserting in their stead the words “Two pounds five shillings and sixpence”.

(2.) Special allowance is payable to a medical officer or a dental officer of the Citizen Military Forces in accordance with regulation 180 of the Military Financial Regulations as amended by the last preceding sub-regulation in respect of service on and after the first day of July, 1963.

Second Schedule.

5.—(1.) The Second Schedule to the Military Financial Regulations is amended by omitting Part A of Table 1 and inserting in its stead the following Part:—

Application.

7.—(1.) The next succeeding sub-regulation applies in a case where a member, within the meaning of Part II. of the Military Financial Regulations, has received or is entitled to receive pay in accordance with Part A of Table 1, Table 2, Table 3 or Part A of Table 8 in the Second Schedule to the Military Financial Regulations in respect of a day in the period from and including the third day of May, 1963, to and including the day immediately preceding the commencement of this regulation.

(2.) The rate of pay applicable under the Military Financial Regulations during the period referred to in the last preceding sub-regulation shall, in the case to which this regulation applies, be increased by an amount equal to the amount by which that rate is less than the rate of pay that would have been applicable if the amendments made by regulations 1 and 5 of these Regulations had taken effect on the third day of May, 1963.

(3.) The next succeeding sub-regulation applies in a case where a member, within the meaning of Part III. of the Military Financial Regulations, has received or is entitled to receive pay in accordance with Table

2.Table 3 or Table 4 of the Third Schedule to the Military Financial Regulations in respect of a day in the period from and including the first day of July, 1963, to and including the day immediately preceding the commencement of this regulation.

(4.) The rate of pay applicable under the Military Financial Regulations during the period referred to in the last preceding sub-regulation shall, in a case to which this sub-regulation applies, be increased by an amount equal to the amount by which that rate is less than the rate of pay that would have been applicable if the amendments made by regulations 3 and 6 of these Regulations had taken effect on the first day of July, 1963.
