REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE ACT 1903-1970.*

Financial (Pacific Islanders) Regulations
Pay.
1. Regulation 9 of the Military Financial (Pacific Islanders)
Regulations is amended—
(a) by omitting the table in sub-regulation (1) and substituting

(c) by inserting after sub-regulation (5), the following
sub-regulations:—
“ (5a) The rate of pay
of a member in respect of a period during which he undergoes air pilot training
is—
(a) the rate specified in the second column of Table 2 in the
Second Schedule in relation to a member holding the rank of Corporal and having
less than one year’s service in the rank; or
(b) the rate at which pay is payable to a member—
(i)
holding the rank held by the member;
(ii)
having the same length of service in that rank as the member; and
(iii) where the member
is not an officer, included in the class of members in which the member was
included immediately before he was selected to undergo that training,
whichever is the higher rate.
“ (5b) For the
purposes of sub-regulation (5a), a
member who has been selected to undergo a course of air pilot training shall be
deemed to have commenced to undergo that course on the date of his selection.”;
(d) by omitting sub-regulations (6), (6a) and (7); and
(e) by omitting the table in sub-regulation (9) and substituting
the following table:—

2. Regulation 19b of the Military Financial (Pacific
Islanders) Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1) the words
“ provision and ”.
Service allowance.
3. Regulation 20a of the
Military Financial (Pacific Islanders) Regulations is amended—
(a) by omitting the word “ An ” and substituting the words “ Subject
to sub-regulation (2), an ”; and
(b) by adding at the end thereof the following sub-regulation:—
“ (2) Service allowance is not payable to a member who is a
prescribed member within the meaning of sub-regulation (8) of regulation 9 in
respect of service during a period other than a period which is a vacation
period in relation to the course of study being undertaken by that member at an
institution referred to in sub-regulation (9) of regulation 9.”.
Mileage Allowance.
4. Regulation 32 of the Military Financial (Pacific Islanders)
Regulations is amended by omitting the table in sub-regulation (2) and
substituting the following table:—

Application of repeal of sub-regulations 47ca (6), (6a)
and (7).
7. The amendments effected by paragraph 1 (d) shall be deemed to have
come into operation on 15 June 1973.
Application.
8. (1) Subject to this regulation, the rates of pay provided for under
the Military Financial (Pacific Islanders) Regulations as amended by these
Regulations apply to and in relation to the service of a member in the Military
Forces on or after 5 July 1973.
(2) The rates of pay
provided for in accordance with regulation 9 of the Military Financial (Pacific
Islanders) Regulations as amended by paragraph 1 (c) apply to and in relation
to a period of service of a member in the Military Forces on or after 21 February
1973 during which the member has undergone, or is deemed to have undergone, a
course of air pilot training.
