Amendments of the Military Financial (Pacific Islanders) Regulations
1. —(1.) Regulation 9 of the Military Financial (Pacific Islanders) Regulations is amended by omitting the table in sub-regulation (1.) and inserting in its stead the following table:—

(2.) Regulation 9 of the Military Financial (Pacific Islanders) Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulation (2.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulations:—
“(2.) Subject to the succeeding sub-regulations of this regulation, the rate of pay of a member (not being a member for whom a rate of pay is provided by sub-regulation (2a.), (3.), (3a.) or (4.) of this regulation) holding a rank specified in the following table is the rate of pay specified, in relation to his rank and length of service in his rank, in that table:—

“(2a.) Subject to the succeeding sub-regulations of this regulation, the rate of pay of a member (not being a member for whom a rate of pay is provided by sub-regulation (3.), (3a.) or (4.) of this regulation) holding the rank of Private and having less than three years’ service in the rank is—
(
a ) in the case of a member having less than six months’ service in the rank—Seventy-seven cents per day;(
b )in the case of a member having not less than six months’ service in the rank but less than one year’s service in the rank—(i) if the member is less than twenty years of age and is unmarried—One dollar ten cents per day;
(ii) If the member is twenty years of age and is unmarried—One dollar twenty-one cents per day; or
(iii) in any other case—One dollar thirty-two cents per day;
(
c ) in the case of a member having not less than one year’s service in the rank but less than two years’ service in the rank—(i) if the member is less than twenty years of age—One dollar twenty-one cents per day; or
(ii) in any other case—One dollar thirty-two cents per day; or
(
d ) in the case of a member having not less than two years’ service in the rank—One dollar thirty-two cents per day.”.(3.) Regulation 9 of the Military Financial (Pacific Islanders) Regulations is amended by omitting the table in sub-regulation (3.) and inserting in its stead the following table:—

(4.) Regulation 9 of the Military Financial (Pacific Islanders) Regulations is amended by omitting the table in sub-regulation (3a.) and inserting in its stead the following table:—

2. —(1.) A member in receipt of pay in respect of the relevant period is, by virtue of this regulation, entitled to be paid, as additional pay—(
a ) if the member was not in receipt of special allowance under sub-regulation (8.) of regulation 9of the Military Financial (Pacific Islanders) Regulations in respect of the relevant period—an amount equal to the amount by which the amount of the pay paid or payable to him in respect of the relevant period is less than the amount of the pay that would have been payable to him in respect of that period if the amendments of the Military Financial (Pacific Islanders) Regulations effected by the last preceding regulation had come into operation on the twenty-fifth day of June, 1970; or(
b )if the member was in receipt of special allowance under sub-regulation (8.) of regulation 9 of the Military Financial (Pacific Islanders) Regulations in respect of the relevant period—an amount equal to the amount by which the sum of the amounts paid or payable to him by way of pay and special allowance in respect of the relevant period is less than the sum of the amounts that would have beenpayable to him by way of pay and special allowance (if any) in respect of that period if—
(i) the amendments of the Military Financial (Pacific Islanders) Regulations effected by the last preceding regulation had come into operation on the twenty-fifth day of June, 1970; and
(ii) special allowance had been payable in accordance with the rates, for the periods, and subject to the conditions applicable to the payment of that allowance immediately after the commencement of these Regulations.
(2.) A reference in the last preceding sub-regulation to the relevant period shall be read as a reference tothe period from and including the twenty-fifth day of June, 1970, to and including the day immediately before the commencement of these Regulations or to any part of that period.
