An Act to amend the " Military Contribution

paid to Her Majesty from the Consolidated Revenue Eund by way of W H E R E A S by the Military Contribution Act of 18G5 it was enacted that certain sums of money should be granted and

yearly contribution to the support of the Officers and Soldiers of Her Majesty's Infantry and Artillery as therein provided on service in the Colony And whereas it is considered expedient to authorize a higher scale of contribution to be paid in respect of the Officers and Soldiers of Her Majesty's Artillery on such service as aforesaid Be it therefore enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled and by the authority of the same as follows :—

1. So much of the first section of the Military Contribution Act of 1865 as provides for the grant of the sum of money therein specified to be paid to Her Majesty from the Consolidated Revenue Eund by way of yearly contribution for the maintenance of the Officers and Soldiers of Her Majesty's Artillery as therein directed shall be and the same is hereby repealed and in lieu thereof it is hereby enacted that there shall be granted and paid to Her Majesty from the Consoli­ dated Revenue Eund by way of yearly contribution towards the main­

tenance of each Officer and Soldier of Her Majesty's Artillery on service in the Colony not exceeding the number in the said last- mentioned Act specified a sum of money at the rate of seventy pounds per annum.

2. I t shall be lawful to pay to Her Majesty from the Consoli­ dated Revenue Pund a sum of money equal to the difference between fifty-five and seventy pounds per annum for each Officer and Soldier of Her Majesty's Artillery on service in the Colony for the period of nine months from the thirty-first day of March one thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven to the first day of January one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight.

3. This Act shall come into operation on the first day of January one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight and may be cited as the " Military Contribution Act Amendment Act of 1867."
