Migration Regulations2 (Amendment)

I, WILLIAM PATRICK DEANE, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, make the following Regulations under the Migration Act 1958.

1.   Commencement

1.1   These Regulations commence on 1 July 1998.

2.   Amendment

2.1   The Migration Regulations are amended as set out in these Regulations.

3.   Regulation 1.03 (Interpretation)

3.1   Definition of “SOFA forces civilian component member” (paragraph (a)):

After “Australia and”, insert “Malaysia,”.

3.2   Definition of “SOFA forces member” (paragraph (a)):

After “Australia and”, insert “Malaysia,”.

3.3   Insert the following definition:

‘community services’ includes the provision of an Australian social security benefit, allowance or pension;”. 

4.   Schedule 1 (Classes of visas)

4.1   Subparagraph 1208A (2) (a) (i):

Omit “$45”, substitute “$50”.

 

5.   Schedule 6 (General points test—qualifications and points)

5.1   Item 6203:

Omit “15”, substitute “20”.

5.2   Item 6204:

Omit “10”, substitute “15”.
