SPECIFICATION OF TELEPHONE NUMBER AND TIMES FOR ORAL APPLICATIONS FOR A RESIDENT RETURN VISA

(SUBREGULATION 2.09(3))

I, CHRIS BOWEN, Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, acting under subregulation 2.09(3) of the Migration Regulations 1994 (‘the Regulations’):

1. SPECIFY for the purposes of subregulation 2.09(3)(a) of Part 2, Division 2.2 to the Regulations the following telephone number:

131 881.

3. SPECIFY for the purposes of subregulation 2.09(3)(b) of Part 2, Division 2.2 to the Regulations the following times:

8:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday.

This Instrument, number IMMI 11/018, commences on 2 April 2011.

[NOTE 1:                Subregulation 2.09(3) provides that an oral application for a Return (Residence) (Class BB) visa         may be made using a specified telephone number and during times specified by the Minister

NOTE 2:. Section 37 of the Acts Interpretation Act 1901 provides that where in an Act any reference to time occurs, such time shall, unless it is otherwise specifically stated, be deemed in each State or part of the Commonwealth to mean the standard or legal time in that State or part of the Commonwealth. This definition is adopted in accordance with Paragraph 13(1)(a) of the Legislative Instruments Act 2003 which provides that the Acts Interpretation Act 1901 applies to                 any legislative instrument so made as if it were an Act and as if each provision of the legislative          instrument were a section of an Act.]
