SPECIFICATION OF PRESCRIBED INTERNATIONAL ORGANISATIONS FOR THE PURPOSES OF REGULATION 5.34E OF THE MIGRATION REGULATIONS 1994
I, AMANDA VANSTONE, Minister for Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs, acting under regulations 1.17 and 5.34E of the Migration Regulations 1994 (‘the Regulations’) hereby:
SPECIFY the following international organisations as prescribed international organisations for the purposes of regulation 5.34E of the Regulations.
- International Committee of the Red Cross;
- The International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda;
- The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia;
- International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies;
- The International Organisation for Migration;
- Interpol;
- The United Nations.

[NOTE 1: Regulation 1.17 provides that the Minister may, by notice published in the Gazette, specify matters required by individual provisions of the Regulations to be specified for the purposes of those provisions.
NOTE 2: Regulation 5.34E states that for paragraph 336F(1)(e) of the Migration Act 1958 (which deals with the authorised disclosure of identifying information to international organisations), an organisation that is specified by the Minister by Gazette Notice is a prescribed international organisation.
NOTE 3: Paragraph 336F(1)(e) of the Act states that the Secretary may, in writing, authorise a specified officer, or any officer included in a specified class of officers, to disclose identifying information of the kind specified in the authorisation to one or more prescribed international organisations.]
