PLACES AND CURRENCIES FOR PAYING OF FEES

(REGULATIONS 5.36(1)(a) AND 5.36(1)(b))

I, AMANDA VANSTONE, Minister for Immigration and Multicultural Affairs, acting under regulation 1.17 and paragraphs 5.36(1)(a) and (b) of the Migration Regulations 1994 (‘the Regulations’):

  1. REVOKE Instrument number IMMI 06/038 signed on 19 June 2006 specifying places and currencies for paying fees for the purposes of paragraphs 5.36(1)(a) and 5.36(1)(b) of the Regulations;

  1. SPECIFY for the purposes of paragraph 5.36(1)(a) of the Regulations the places set out in column A of the Schedule to this Instrument as a place in which the payment of a fee must be made; and

  1. SPECIFY for the purposes of paragraph 5.36(1)(b) of the Regulations the currency set out in column B of the Schedule to this Instrument as the currency in which a fee may be paid in that place.

This Instrument, IMMI 06/080, commences on 1 January 2007.

[NOTE 1:    Regulation 1.17 provides that the Minister may, by notice published in the Gazette, specify matters required by individual provisions of the Regulations to be specified for the purposes of those provisions.

NOTE 2: Subregulation 5.36(1) of the Regulations provides that payment of a fee, other than a visa application charge must be made:

(a)in a place, being Australia or a foreign country, that is specified for the purposes of the paragraph by Gazette Notice; and

(b)in a currency that is specified for the purposes of the paragraph by Gazette Notice as a currency in which a fee may be paid in that place.]
