PLACES AND CURRENCIES FOR PAYING OF FEES
(REGULATIONS 5.36(1)(a) AND 5.36(1)(b))
I, AMANDA VANSTONE, Minister for Immigration and Multicultural Affairs, acting under regulation 1.17 and paragraphs 5.36(1)(a) and (b) of the Migration Regulations 1994 (‘the Regulations’):
REVOKE Instrument number IMMI 05/096 signed on 8 December 2005 specifying places and currencies for paying fees for the purposes of paragraphs 5.36(1)(a) and 5.36(1)(b) of the Regulations;
SPECIFY for the purposes of paragraph 5.36(1)(a) of the Regulations the places set out in column A of the Schedule to this Instrument as a place in which the payment of a fee must be made; and
SPECIFY for the purposes of paragraph 5.36(1)(b) of the Regulations the currency set out in column B of the Schedule to this Instrument as the currency in which a fee may be paid in that place.
This Instrument, IMMI 06/038, commences on 1 July 2006.

[NOTE 1: Regulation 1.17 provides that the Minister may, by notice published in the Gazette, specify matters required by individual provisions of the Regulations to be specified for the purposes of those provisions.
NOTE 2: Subregulation 5.36(1) of the Regulations provides that payment of a fee must be made in a place, being Australia or a foreign country (whether or not an independent sovereign state) outside Australia and the external territories, that is specified for the purposes of paragraph 5.36(1)(a) by Gazette Notice, and payment of a fee must be made in a currency that is specified for the purposes of paragraph 5.36(1)(b) by Gazette Notice as a currency in which a fee may be paid in that place.]
