SPECIFICATION OF PASSPORTS FOR THE PURPOSES OF SUBPARAGRAPH 1218(3)(bb)(ii) OF THE MIGRATION REGULATIONS 1994

I, PETER McGAURAN, Minister for Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs, acting under regulation 1.17 and subparagraph 1218(3)(bb)(ii) of the Migration Regulations 1994 (‘the Regulations’) hereby:

  1. REVOKE the Gazette Notice signed on 9 June 2004 specifying passports for the purposes of paragraph 1218(3)(bb) of the Regulations; AND

  1. SPECIFY for the purposes of subparagraph 1218(3)(bb)(ii) of the Regulations a passport of the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, the Republic of Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Kuwait, Latvia, Lithuania, Oman, Poland, Qatar, Slovakia and Slovenia.

This takes effect on 2 April 2005.

[NOTE 1:        Regulation 1.17 provides the Minister may, by notice published in the Gazette, specify matters required by individual provisions of the Regulations to be specified for the purposes of those provisions.

NOTE 2:Paragraph 1218(3)(bb) provides that Internet applications may be made if and only if the applicant is outside Australia and is the holder of a passport of a kind specified in a Gazette Notice for the purposes of paragraph 1218(3)(bb)(ii).]
