SPECIFICATION OF AN ORGANISATION FOR THE PURPOSES OF SUBREGULATION 1.21(1) OF THE MIGRATION REGULATIONS 1994

I, PETER McGAURAN, Minister for Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs, acting under regulation 1.17 and subregulation 1.21(1) of the Migration Regulations 1994 (the Regulations) hereby:

SPECIFY Centrelink as an organisation for the purposes of the definition of independent expert in subregulation 1.21(1) of the Regulations.

[NOTE 1:                Regulation 1.17 provides that the Minister may, by notice published in the Gazette, specify matters required by individual provisions of these Regulations to be specified for the purposes of those provisions.

NOTE 2:  Subregulation 1.21(1) provides a definition of independent expert in relation to making independent assessments of non-judicially determined claims of domestic violence.  An independent expert must be employed by, or contracted to provide services to, an organisation that is specified in a Gazette Notice for this definition.]
