CLASS OF PERSONS

(SUBPARAGRAPH 1223A(2)(a)(ix))

I, CHRIS BOWEN, Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, acting under subparagraph 1223A(2)(a)(ix) of Part 2 of Schedule 1 to the Migration Regulations 1994 (‘the Regulations’):

1. REVOKE Instrument IMMI 12/112 signed on 2 October 2012, specifying a class of persons for the purposes of subparagraph 1223A(2)(a)(ix).

1. SPECIFY for the purposes of subparagraph 1223A(2)(a)(ix), each person applying for a subclass 456 (Business (Short Stay)) visa, the following classes of persons:

(a)a person who holds a kind of passport specified in column 2 of the Schedule to this Instrument and satisfies the conditions in column 3 of the Schedule to this Instrument, for passports of that kind;

(b)a person who is entered as an amateur participant in a sporting event; and

(c)a person who is appointed or employed to assist an amateur participant who is entered in a sporting event or an amateur team that is entered in a sporting event.

This Instrument, IMMI 12/080, commences on 24 November 2012, immediately after the commencement of Migration Legislation Amendment Regulation 2012 (No. 4).

[NOTE 1: Subparagraph 1223A(2)(a)(ix) of Schedule 1 to the Regulations provides that an applicant who is in a class of persons specified by the Minister in an instrument in writing will have a nil visa application charge.

NOTE 2:       The Minister has also specified a class of persons in Instrument IMMI 12/074 (for the purposes of subparagraph 1223A(2)(a)(ix).]

12	Hungary	Passport must indicate that the applicant is a national of Hungary
13	Republic of Ireland	Passport must indicate that the applicant is a national of the Republic of Ireland
14	Italy	Passport must indicate that the applicant is a national of Italy
15	Latvia	Passport must indicate that the applicant is a national of Latvia
