ARRANGEMENTS FOR WORK AND HOLIDAY VISA APPLICANTS FROM THAILAND
AND IRAN
(REGULATIONS 1224A AND 462.221)
I, JULIE BISHOP, Acting Minister for Immigration and Multicultural Affairs, acting under regulation 1.17 and Item 1224A of Schedule 1 and Clause 462.221 of Schedule 2 to the Migration Regulations 1994 (‘the Regulations’):
REVOKE instrument IMMI05/074, signed on 24 August 2005, specifying a foreign country and addresses for the purposes of Item 1224A of Schedule 1 to the Regulations.
SPECIFY for the purpose of Item 1224A(3)(a) of Schedule 1 to the Regulations the foreign countries specified in Column 1 of Part 1 of the attached schedule.
3. SPECIFY for the purposes of Item 1224A(3)(aa) of Schedule 1 to the Regulations the postal address specified in Part 2 of the attached schedule for the foreign country specified in Column 1 of Part 1 of the attached schedule.
4. SPECIFY for the purposes of Item 1224A(3)(aa) of Schedule 1 to the Regulations the street address specified in Part 3 of the attached schedule for the foreign countries specified in Column 1 of Part 1 of the attached schedule.
5. SPECIFY for the purposes of Clause 462.221(c) of Schedule 2 to the Regulations the educational qualifications, specified in Column 2 of Part 1 in relation to the corresponding foreign countries specified in Column 1 of Part 1 of the attached schedule.
This Instrument, IMMI06/008, commences on registration on the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments.

[NOTE 1: Regulation 1.17 of the Regulations provides that the Minister may, by notice published in the Gazette, specify matters required by individual provisions of the Regulations to be specified for the purposes of those provisions.
NOTE 2: Paragraph 1224A(3)(a) provides that an applicant for a Work and Holiday (Temporary) (Class US) visa must hold a valid passport issued by a foreign country specified in a Gazette Notice.
NOTE 3: Paragraph 1224A(3)(aa) provides that an application for a Class US visa by a person who holds a valid passport mentioned in paragraph (a) must be made at an address specified for the country of issue in a Gazette Notice.
NOTE 4: Paragraph 462.221(c) provides that an applicant is the holder of an educational qualification specified in a Gazette Notice, in relation to the foreign country that issued the passport mentioned in paragraph (aa).]

For the purpose of this Instrument:
Degree means a formal educational qualification that is of an equivalent standard to a degree awarded by an Australian educational institution.
Diploma means a formal educational qualification that is of an equivalent standard to a diploma awarded by an Australian educational institution.
