Part 1—Preliminary

1  Name

(1)This instrument is the Migration (IMMI 18/035: Specification of Exempt Occupations) Instrument 2018.

(2)This instrument may also be cited as IMMI 18/035.

2  Commencement

This instrument commences on 18 March 2018.

3  Authority

This instrument is made under subregulation 2.72(13) of the Migration Regulations 1994.

4  Definitions

Note:    ANZSCO is defined in regulation 1.03 of the Regulations.

In this instrument:

nec is short for not elsewhere classified.

Regulations means the Migration Regulations 1994.

5  Schedules

Each instrument that is specified in a Schedule to this instrument is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this instrument has effect according to its terms.

6  Occupations

Each occupation mentioned in the table in Schedule 1 to this instrument is specified for the purposes of the following provisions of the Regulations:

(a)     paragraph 2.72(11)(c);

(b)     paragraph 2.72(12)(c);

(c)     subregulation 2.73(13);

(d)     paragraph 2.73(14)(c);

(e)     paragraph 2.86(2A)(b);

(f)      subregulation 2.86(2AA);

(g)     paragraph 5.19(5)(g);

(h)     subregulation 5.19(7);

(i)       clause 482.224 of Schedule 2;

(j)       clause 482.233 of Schedule 2; and

(k)     paragraph 8607(3)(a) of Schedule 8.
