An Act to amend the Migration Act 1958, and for related purposes

The Parliament of Australia enacts:

1Short title

This Act may be cited as the Migration Amendment (Statutory Agency) Act 2007.

2Commencement

This Act commences on the day after it receives the Royal Assent.

3Schedule(s)

Each Act that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect according to its terms.

Insert:

Part 7AStatutory agency for purposes of Public Service Act

473AStatutory agency for purposes of Public Service Act

For the purposes of the Public Service Act 1999:

  1. (a)

    the Principal Member of the Refugee Review Tribunal and the persons mentioned in subsections 407(4) and 472(4) together constitute a Statutory Agency; and

  2. (b)

    the Principal Member of the Refugee Review Tribunal is the Head of that Statutory Agency.
