I, WILLIAM PATRICK DEANE, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Migration Agents Registration Renewal Charge Act 1997.

1.   Name of regulations

1.1   These regulations are the Migration Agents Registration Renewal Charge Amendment Regulations 1998 (No. 1).

2.   Commencement

2.1   These regulations commence on 1 September 1998.

3.   Amendment

3.1   The Migration Agents Registration Renewal Charge Regulations 1998 are amended as set out in these regulations.

4.   Regulation 3 (Amount of charge)

4.1   Paragraphs 3 (a) and (b):

Omit “charge a fee for giving immigration assistance”, substitute “give immigration assistance for which a fee is to be charged”.
