AN ACT
To
amend the Migration Act 1958–1966 for
the purpose of removing Restrictions on the Departure of Aboriginals from
Australia.

BE IT ENACTED by the Queen, the
Senate and the House of Representatives of Australia, as follows:—
Short
title and citation.
1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Migration Act 1973.
(2) The Migration Act 1958–1966 is in this Act
referred to as the Principal Act.
(3) The
Principal Act, as amended by this Act, may be cited as the Migration Act 1958-1973.
Commencement.
2. This Act shall come into operation on the day on which it receives
the Royal Assent.
Parts.
3. Section 3 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting the words—
“Part
III—Emigration of Certain Persons (Sections 59-64).”
and
substituting the words—
“Part
III—Emigration of Certain Children (Sections 59-63).”.
Heading
to Part III.
4. The heading to Part III of the Principal Act is repealed and the
following heading substituted:—
“Part
III—Emigration of Certain Children”.
5. Section 59 of the Principal Act is repealed and the following
section substituted:—
Definition.
“59.
In this Part, ‘child’ means a person under the age of seventeen years.”.
