SEWERAGE, AND DRAINAUE

(CITY MEMBERS) ACT.

Act No. 49, 1927.

An Act to declare vacant the seats of those members of the Metropolitan Water , Sewerage and Drainage Board who were elected by the aldermen of the City of Sydney ; to make further provision as to the qualification for election as a member of that board ; to amend the Metropolitan Water , Sewerage, and Drainage Act, 1924; and for purposes connected therewith. 1 . (1) This A c t may be cited as t h e " M e t r o p o l i t a n

W a t e r , Sewerage, and Drainage (City Members) Act , 1927 ," and shall he read with t h e Met ropol i t an W a t e r , Sewerage, and Dra inage Act , 1924.

(2) J his Ac t shall commence on the day fixed by the Governor and notified by proclamation publ ished in t he Gazette' in pu r suance of subsection one of section two of t he Sydney Corporation (Commissioners) Act, 1927 (in t ha t Act referred to as the appoin ted day) .

2 . (1) On the c o m m e n c e m e n t of this Ac t the seats

upon the Metropol i tan W a t e r , Sewerage and Drainage Board of those members who were elected by the a ldermen of the City of Sydney shal l become vacant .

(2) Such vacancies shall he filled by eligible persons elected by the Commissioners appointed unde r the Sydney Corporat ion (Commissioners) Act , 1927.
A certificate under t he seal of the Municipal Counci l of Sydney counte rs igned by the Chief Commissioner appoin ted unde r t ha t Act , shall he conclusive evidence of such election.
The provisions of subsect ion two of section seventeen 1924, shall ex tend to the persons so elected.

D u r i n g the period in which the Sydney Corpora­ t ion (Commissioners) Act , 1927, is in force, any person	who would but for t h a t Act have been eligible to be
elected as an a lderman of t i e City of Sydney shall be eligible for election as a m e m b e r of t he board.
