No. XI I .

An Act to extend the Act Seventeenth Victoria

number thirty-one to all parts of the

Colony. [28th March 1878.]

W H E R E A S it is expedient to extend the provisions of the Act

seventeenth Victoria number thirty-one to all places in the
Colony of New South Wales Be it therefore enacted by the Queen's

Most Excellent Majesty by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in

Parliament assembled and by the authority of the same as follows:—
1. The Act seventeenth Victoria number thirty-one which is

now in force within the City port hamlets and suburbs of Sydney

shall extend and apply to all parts of the Colony.
2. The words " Superintendent" " Inspector" "Sergeant" and
" Constable" whensoever used in the Act aforesaid shall be held to

mean and include respectively any superintendent inspector sub- inspector sergeant or constable of the Police Force of the Colony in their respective Police districts or stations as the case may require and any Police officer or constable in charge of any Police district or station may do any act or thing in his district or station which any superintendent inspector or sergeant is empowered by the Act aforesaid to do in the City port hamlets and suburbs of Sydney.

3. The Police Courts mentioned in the twenty-second section of the Act aforesaid and the Central Police Office or the Water Police
Office in the twenty-third section of the said Act shall mean and
include any Police Court within the Police District in which the

station-house therein mentioned is situate.

4. This Act may be cited as the " Metropolitan Police Act

Extension Act of 1878 . "
