AMENDMENT ACT 1997

No. 2 of 1997

AN ACT to amend the Metropolitan (Perth) Passenger Transport Trust Act 1957 by altering the membership of the Metropolitan (Perth) Passenger Transport Trust, and for related purposes.

The Parliament of Western Australia enacts as follows:

Short title

1. This Act may be cited as the Metropolitan (Perth) Passenger Transport Trust Amendment Act 1997.

Commencement

2. This Act comes into operation on the day on which it

receives the Royal Assent.

Principal Act

3. In this Act the Metropolitan (Perth) Passenger Transport

Trust Act 1957* is referred to as the principal Act.

Section 7 amended, and saving

4. (1) Section 7 of the principal Act is amended by repealing

subsections (4) and (5).

(2) Despite subsection (1), a member of the Metropolitan

(Perth) Passenger Transport Trust (‘‘the Trust’’) —

(a)	referred to in subsection (4) (a) or (b) of section 7 of the principal Act before the repeal of that subsection by subsection (1); and
(b)	holding office immediately before the commencement of subsection (1),

continues, subject to the principal Act, to hold office as a member of the Trust for the remainder of the period for which he or she would, but for subsection (1), have continued to hold that office.

Section 8A amended

5. Section 8A of the principal Act is amended by deleting

paragraph (f).

Section 9 amended

6.	(1)	Section 9 (1) of the principal Act is amended —
(a)	by deleting the semicolon at the end of paragraph (b) and substituting a comma; and
(b)	by deleting paragraph (c).

(2) Section 9 (2) of the principal Act is amended by deleting

‘‘or (1) (c)’’.

(3) Section 9 (2a) of the principal Act is repealed.
