An Act to amend the " Metropolitan Magis­

trates Act 1881." [1st May, 1884]

WH E R E A S it is expedient to amend the " Metropolitan Magis­of a Deputy Stipendiary Magistrate in case of the illness or absence of trates Act 1881" in order to make provision for the appointment

any Stipendiary Magistrate Be it therefore enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled and by the authority of the same as follows :—

2. This Act may be cited as the "Metropolitan Magistrates Act Amendment Act 1881." No. XV.

1. If any Stipendiary Magistrate appointed under the authority of the said Act shall be unable to attend to his duties by reason of absence or illness it shall be lawful for the Governor with the advice of the Executive Council to appoint a Deputy to act for such Stipendiary Magistrate during such absence or illness and the person so appointed shall while acting as such Deputy have the same jurisdiction and power and perform the same duties and be subject to all the provisions of the said Act as if he had been appointed a Stipendiary Magistrate.
