Act No. 67, 1978.
An Act to amend certain references in Acts to physical quantities so as to convert them to the metric system of measurement. [Assented to, 6th April, 1978.]
BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :—
1. This Act may be cited as the "Metric Conversion Act,
1978".
2. The provisions of this Act are for the purpose of metric
conversion, as referred to in section 3 of the Metric Conversion
(Savings) Act, 1974.
In this Act or in an instrument made for the purposes of this Act, a reference to an Item or Item number, however expressed, is a reference to a number in the column headed "Item No." in Column 2 of Schedule 1 and the provision of that Schedule set forth opposite that number.

(1) This Act, sections 5, 6 and 7 and Schedules 1, 2 and 3 excepted, shall commence on the date of assent to this Act.
4.
| (2) The provisions of section 5, in so far as they effect an amendment specified by an Item in Schedule 1, and of that Item, | shall commence on such day as may be appointed by the Governor |
| in respect of that Item, whether by reference to that Item or otherwise, and as may be notified by proclamation published in the Gazette. |
| (3) Section 6 and Schedule 2 shall commence on such day as the Governor may, under section 2 (2) of the Dairy Industry (Amendment) Act, 1973, appoint and notify as the day upon which section 4 (b) of that Act shall commence. |
( 4 ) Section 7 and Schedule 3 shall commence on such
day as the Governor may, under section 1 ( 2 ) of the Aerial Spraying Control Act, 1 9 6 9 , appoint and notify as the day upon which that Act shall commence.
5. This Act contains the following Schedules :—

Each Act specified in Column 1 of Schedule 1 is amended in the provision of that Act specified opposite thereto in the column headed "Provision of Act." in Column 2 of that Schedule—•

| (a) | by omitting from that provision the matter specified opposite that provision in the column headed "Matter to be omitted." in Column 2 of that Schedule, other than such matter, if any, as appears in brackets and is printed in italics; and |
| (b) | by inserting instead the matter specified opposite that provision in the column headed "Matter to be inserted." in Column 2 of that Schedule. |
7 . A provision to be inserted in the Dairy Industry Act, 1 9 1 5 ,
by section 4 (b) of the Dairy Industry (Amendment) Act, 1 9 7 3 , being a provision specified in Schedule 2 , is amended in the manner set forth in relation to that provision in that Schedule.
8 . The Aerial Spraying Control Act, 1969, is amended in the
manner set forth in Schedule 3 .
