Merit Protection (Australian Federal Police)

Regulations2 (Amendment)

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Merit Protection (Australian Government Employees)Act 1984.

Commencement

1. These Regulations commence on 1 January 1989.

Schedule

2. The Schedule to the Merit Protection (Australian Federal Police) Regulations is amended:

(a) by omitting the modification of section 11 of the Act contained in that Schedule and substituting the following modification:

“Section 11:

Omit the section, substitute the following section:

Parties to appeal proceedings

“11. For the purposes of this Subdivision, the parties to an appeal are the parties specified in Division 2 of Part IIa of the Australian Federal Police Regulations as in force on 1 January 1989.”;

(b) by omitting the modification of section 24 of the Act contained in that Schedule and substituting the following modification:

“Section 24:

Omit the section, substitute the following section:

Parties to appeal proceedings

“24. For the purposes of this Subdivision, the parties to an appeal are the parties specified in Division 2 of Part IIa of the Australian Federal Police Regulations as in force on 1 January 1989.”.

Transitional

3. The modifications of the Act effected by regulation 2 apply in relation to an appeal lodged on or after the commencement of these Regulations and, notwithstanding that regulation, the modifications of the Act omitted by that regulation continue to apply in relation to an appeal lodged before that commencement as if these Regulations had not been made.
