AN ACT to authorise reimbursement of expenses to

Members of Parliament.

13E it enacted, by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent

of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:-

Short title.

This Act may be cited as the Members of Parliament, Reimbursement of Expenses, Act, 1953.

Entitlement.

Except while occupying the office of Minister of the Crown, each Member of Parliament of the State is entitled, as reimbursement of expenses 'incurred in discharging Parliamentary duties, in addition to any allowance to which he is entitled under any other Act, to such reimbursement as is specified in the Schedule to this Act and is appro- priate to his case.

(b) If a person does not, while he is a Member of Parliament, make claim in writing to the Treasurer during any year, commencing on the first day of January and ending on the next following thirty- first day of December, for the reimbursement for that year, he is regarded as having renounced the claim for, and is not entitled to, the reimbursement for that year.
