1 Short title
This regulation may be cited as the Medicines and Poisons (Medicines) Amendment Regulation (No. 3) 2025.

This regulation amends the Medicines and Poisons (Medicines) Regulation 2021.
3 Amendment of sch 2 (Categories of medicines)
Schedule 2, part 1, division 1, entries for buprenorphine for treating opioid dependency and methadone for treating opioid dependency, ‘dependency’—

4 Amendment of sch 6 (Medical practitioners and assistants)

(1)Schedule 7, section 1—
insert—continuing opioid dependence treatment, by a nurse practitioner of a patient, means—(a)the practitioner is treating the patient with an approved opioid in a hospital or custodial facility; and(b)the patient was being treated with the approved opioid under an opioid treatment program within a reasonable period before—(i)being admitted to the hospital or being taken into custody at the custodial facility; or(ii)being treated by the practitioner.(2)Schedule 7, section 1, definition continuing institutional treatment, paragraphs (a) to (c)—
