The Parliament of Australia enacts:

1Short title

This Act may be cited as the Medicare Levy Amendment (DisabilityCare Australia) Act 2013.

2Commencement

This Act commences on the day this Act receives the Royal Assent.

3Schedule(s)

Each Act that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect according to its terms.

Schedule 1—Amendments

Medicare Levy Act 1986

Subsection 6(1)

Omit “1.5%”, substitute “2%”.

Subsection 6(2)

Omit “1.5%”, substitute “2%”.

Omit “1.5%”, substitute “2%”.

Subsection 7(4)

Omit “$490”, substitute “$520”.

Subsection 8(2) (formula)

Repeal the formula, substitute:

Subsection 8(2)

Omit all the words after the formula.

Application of amendments

The amendments made by this Schedule apply to assessments for the 2014‑15 year of income and later years of income.
