MEDICAL PRACTIONERS REGISTRATION REGULATIONS.*
REGULATIONS 1963. No. 4.f
Meetings of
1. Regulation 3 of the Medical Practitioners Registration Regulations " (4.) A motion shall not be proposed at a meeting unless notice in writing of the motion has been given to the Chairman at least seven days before the date fixed for holding the meeting.
the Board. is amended by omitting sub-regulation (4.) and inserting in its stead the
following sub-regulations:—" (4A. ) The Chairman shall cause a motion of which notice has been so given to him to be included in the business paper for the meeting at which the motion is to be proposed and shall cause a copy of the notice to be sent to each member before the date fixed for holding the meeting.".
Particulars 2. Regulation 4 of the Medical Practitioners Registration Regulations
(a) by omitting the words " the Register of Medical Practitioners "
and inserting in their stead the words " the Register "; and
(b) by omitting the words " any person" and inserting in theirin Register. is amended— stead the words " a person as a medical practitioner ".
Certificate of 3. Regulation 6 of the Medical Practitioners Registration Regulations registration. is amended— (a) by omitting the word " Registration " and inserting in its stead
the word " registration "; and
(b) by omitting the words "medical practitioner registered" and inserting in their stead the words " person registered as a medical practitioner ".
4. After regulation 6 of the Medical Practitioners Registration Regula- tions the following regulation is added:—

Permitted "7.—(1.) In this regulation— advertising by registered medical ' address', in relation to a registered medical practitioner, means practitioners. the address of his place of residence or of a place at which
he carries on his practice;' approved description', in relation to a registered medical practi- tioner, means any words that are approved by the Board and indicate that he is a medical practitioner;
' glass' includes any translucent material;
' honour' , in relation to a registered medical practitioner, means an
honour conferred on him by the Sovereign;

' qualification ', in relation to a registered medical practitioner, means a qualification obtained or possessed by him in connexion with the practice of medicine or surgery, and includes a qualification testified to by a testimonial, degree, diploma, licence or certificate from a university, college or other body or consisting of a fellowship or membership of a college or society of physicians, surgeons or other medical practitioners;
' telephone number ', in relation to a registered medical practitioner, means the number of a telephone at his place of residence or at a place at which he carries on his practice.
" (2.) For the purposes of paragraph (a) of sub-section (5.) of section 30 of the Medical Practitioners Registration Ordinance 1930-1963, a registered medical practitioner may advertise that he is entitled, qualified, willing or able to practise medicine or surgery in any of its branches or to give or perform a medical service—
(a) by causing to be exhibited outside his residence and outside any premises at which he regularly attends for the purpose of carrying on his practice one notice—
(i) the area of which does not exceed two square feet;
(ii) the length of which does not exceed two feet;(iii) the letters on which are not formed by lighting or
any similar device;
(iv) the height of any of the letters on which does not
exceed three inches;
(v) that does not contain any particulars other than the name, honours (if any), qualifications and hours of consultation, and an approved description, of the practitioner; and
(vi) that is not illuminated;
(6) by causing to be exhibited outside that residence and outside
those premises one lamp—
(i) containing one fixed light that shines continuously
when the lamp is lit;
(ii) the length of the glass on each side of which does not
exceed fifteen inches;
(iii) the wicth of the glass on each side of which does not
exceed twelve inches;
(iv) no part of which other than the glass contains any
writing;
(v) the glass in which contains not more than two colours, one of which is the colour of the background and the other of which is the colour of the letters;
(vi) the writing on the glass in which does not contain any particulars other than the name, honours (if any), qualifications and hours of consultation, and an approved description, of the practitioner; and
(vii) the framework of which is not illuminated;

(c) if he carries on his practice on premises of which he is not the sole occupier—by causing to be exhibited in the interior of those premises not more than three notices—
(i) the letters on which are not formed by lighting or any
similar device;
(ii) the height of the letters on which does not exceed two
inches;
(iii) that do not contain any particulars other than the name, honours (if any) and qualifications, and an approved description, of the practitioner; and
(iv) that are not illuminated;
(d) by giving, or causing to be given, to any of his patients an appointment card on which particulars of his name, honours (if any), qualifications, address, hours of consultation and tele- phone number, and an approved description of himself, are written;
(e) by writing, or causing to be written, on a letterhead, form of prescription, memorandum or form of account used by him in connexion with his practice his name, honours (if any), qualifications, address, hours of consultation and telephone number and an approved description of himself; and
(/) by causing his name, honours (if any), qualifications and address, and an approved description of himself, to be published in type other than bold face type in a telephone directory issued by or on behalf of the Postmaster-General's Department.
