s1 2 s4 Medical Practitioners Registration Amendment No. 184, 2002 Regulation (No. 1) 2002 1 Short title This regulation may be cited as the Medical Practitioners Registration Amendment Regulation (No. 1) 2002 . 2 Commencement This regulation commences on 31 July 2002. 3 Regulation amended This regulation amends the MedicalPractitionersRegistrationRegulation 2002. 4 Insertion of new ss 10A to 10C After section 10— insert— ‘10A Exemption from payment of fee—concurrent general and specialist registration ‘ (1) A general registrant who makes an application for specialist registration is exempt from payment of the specialist registration fee for the application. ‘ (2) A general registrant who is a specialist registrant is exempt from payment of the specialist registration fee for renewal of the registrant’s specialist registration. ‘ (3) A person who makes an application for general registration with an application for specialist registration is exempt from payment of the specialist registration fee for the application for specialist registration. ‘ (4) A person who makes an application for restoration of general registration with an application for restoration of specialist registration is exempt from payment of the restoration fee for specialist registration. ‘10B Waiver of fee—retired practitioner ‘ (1) The board may waive payment of a registration fee or specialist registration fee by a person for a period of registration, if—
s5 3 s5 Medical Practitioners Registration Amendment No. 184, 2002 Regulation (No. 1) 2002 (a) the board is satisfied the person does not earn any income from the practice of the profession; and (b) the person applies to the board for a waiver of the fee under this section before the period of registration starts; and (c) the person holds a pensioner concession card or seniors card on the day of applying for the waiver. ‘ (2) In this section— “pensioner concession card” means a card known as a pensioner concession card issued under a Commonwealth law. “seniors card” means a Queensland Government seniors card. ‘10C Waiver of restoration component—person’s conduct ‘ (1) The board may waive payment of the restoration component of the restoration fee by a person if— (a) the board is satisfied no act or omission by the person materially contributed to non-renewal of the person’s registration; and (b) the person applies to the board for a waiver of the restoration component under this section when the person applies for restoration of his or her registration. ‘ (2) In this section— “restoration component” means the amount of $75.’. 5 Amendment of sch 2 (Fees) Schedule 2, items 3 to 6— omit, insert— ‘ 3. Registration fee— (a) for a period of registration of not more than 3 months (b) for a period of registration of more than 3 months but not more than 6 months . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
