MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS REGISTRATION

No. 1 of 1964.

An Ordinance to amend the Medical Practitioners

Registration Ordinance 1930-1963.

1.—(1.) This Ordinance may be cited as the Medical short aa»mt

Practitioners Registration Ordinance (No. 2) 1963.*

(2.) The Medical Practitioners Registration Ordinance 1930-1962,t as amended by the Medical Practitioners Registra- tion Ordinance 1963,$ is in this Ordinance referred to as the Principal Ordinance.

(3.) Section one of the Medical Practitioners Registration Ordinance 1963 is amended by omitting sub-section (3.) .

(4.) The Principal Ordinance, as amended by this Ordinance may be cited as the Medical Practitioners Registration Ordinance 1930-1963.

2. Section four of the Principal Ordinance is repealed and the following section inserted in its stead:—

" 4. In this Ordinance, unless the contrary intention Definitions.

' medical service' means a medical or surgical service,

attendance, operation or advice;

' member ' means a member of the Board;

' registered' means registered in pursuance of section

twenty-two of this Ordinance, and ' registration'

has a corresponding meaning;

' registered medical practitioner' means a person regis-

tered under this Ordinance;

' the Board' means the Medical Board established by

this Ordinance;

' the Chairman' means the Chairman of the Board;

4  the Court of Petty Sessions' means the Court of Petty Sessions established under the Court of Petty Sessions Ordinance 1930-1961;

' the Deputy Chairman ' means the Deputy Chairman of

the Board;

' the Director-General' means the Director-General of

Health of the Commonwealth;

' the Minister' means the Minister of State for Health; ' the Register' means the Register of Medical Prac-

titioners kept in pursuance of section nineteen of

this Ordinance.".

by the Board. 3. Section twenty-two of the Principal Ordinance is amended
by inserting after sub-section (2.) the following sub-section:—
" (2A.) A person who lodges an application to the Board
under the last-preceding sub-section is not required to pay the
prescribed fee if he is registered or licensed as a medical prac-
titioner under a law of a State or Territory that provides for the
registration or licensing of medical practitioners and is either—
(a) an officer or employee within the meaning of the

Public Service Act 1922-1961; or

(b) a member of the Defence Force engaged on

continuous full-time service.".
