MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS REGISTRATION

An Ordinance to amend the Medical Practitioners
Registration Ordinance 1930-1966.

| 2. After section 28 of the Medical Practitioners Registration | Ordi |
nance 1930-1966 the following section is inserted:—
" 2 8 A . — ( 1 . ) Where the Board, upon an application made on behalf of a person by a body engaged or interested in teaching or research in medicine or surgery, is satisfied that—
(a) the person is qualified by a law in force in a State or Terri tory of the Commonwealth or in another country to practise medicine or surgery, whether or not he is entitled to apply for registration under this Ordinance; and (b) the person is, by reason of his specialized medical or sur gical knowledge, experience and skill in a branch of medi cine or surgery, competent to undertake, or assist in, practising, teaching or research in that branch of medicine or surgery,
the Board may issue to that person a permit to give or perform such medical services in that branch of medicine or surgery as the Board determines and specifies in the permit.

" (2.) A permit issued under this section remains in force, unless sooner cancelled, for such period, not exceeding twelve months, as the Board determines and specifies in the permit.
" (3. ) The Board may, at any time, by notice in writing to the holder, cancel a permit issued under this section.
" (4.) The holder of a permit in force under this section is entitled to practise medicine or surgery in pursuance of the permit as if he were a registered medical practitioner, and, for that purpose, for the period during which the permit is in force, he shall be deemed to be a registered medical practitioner.".
