Medical Practice (Amendment) Regulations 2001

The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1. Objective

The objective of these Regulations is to prescribe the forms for—

(a)

application for registration or renewal of registration as a medical student under section 9A of the Medical Practice Act 1994; and

(b)

application for endorsement of registration under section 9B of that Act.

2. Authorising provision

These Regulations are made under section 98 of the Medical Practice Act 1994.

3. Commencement

(1) These Regulations, except regulations 8 and 11,

come into operation on the day after they are
made.

(2) Regulations 8 and 11 come into operation on

1 January 2002.

4. Principal Regulations

In these Regulations, the Medical Practice Regulations 19941 are called the Principal Regulations.

5. Amendment to the objective

In regulation 1 of the Principal Regulations, for
paragraph (a) substitute—

"(a) the forms for applications relating to

registration; and".

6. Consequential amendment

In regulation 4 of the Principal Regulations, for

"the Schedule" substitute "Schedule 1".

7. Medical student registration

At the end of regulation 4 of the Principal
Regulations insert—

"(2) For the purposes of section 9A(2) of the Act,

the prescribed form for application for
registration or renewal of registration as a

medical student is set out in Schedule 2.".

8. New regulation 4A inserted

Before regulation 5 of the Principal Regulations
insert—

"4A. Form of application for endorsement of

registration

For the purposes of section 9B(6)(a) of the
Act, the prescribed form is set out in
Schedule 3.".

9. Consequential amendments

In the Schedule to the Principal Regulations—

(a) for "SCHEDULE" substitute—

"SCHEDULES

SCHEDULE 1";

(b) for "Regulation 4" substitute
"Regulation 4(1)".

10. New Schedule 2 inserted

After the Schedule to the Principal Regulations insert—

MEDICAL PRACTICE ACT 1994

To the Medical Practitioners Board of Victoria
I apply for endorsement of registration under section 9B of
the Medical Practice Act 1994—

* to practise Chinese medicine.

* to obtain, have in my possession and to use, sell or
supply Schedule 1 poisons within the meaning of the
Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances Act 1981.
* I am a registered medical practitioner under the Medical
Practice Act 1994.
* I enclose a separate application for registration as a
medical practitioner under the Medical Practice Act
1994.
