Explanatory note
The object of this Regulation is to amend the Medical Practice Regulation 1998 to remove a requirement that a benchtop or portable steriliser may only be used if it is specified in the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods maintained under the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989 of the Commonwealth.
This Regulation is made under the Medical Practice Act 1992, including section

194 (the general power to make regulations) and Schedule 4.

1     Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Medical Practice Amendment (Benchtop and
Portable Sterilisers) Regulation 2000.

2 Amendment of Medical Practice Regulation 1998

The Medical Practice Regulation 1998 is amended by omitting clause

14 (3) from Schedule 1 to that Regulation.
