Regulations under the Meat Ordinance 1931-1933.

hereby make the following Regulation.

M E A T R E G U L A T I O N S .

Regulation 19 of the Meat Regulations 1931 is repealed and the Branding.

following regulation inserted in its stead:—

19.—(1.) When an inspector passes meat as fit for human con- sumption, he shall brand the meat with the prescribed brand, and in the manner prescribed.

(2.) ( a ) I n the case of any carcass, other than a carcass of lamb,

the brand shall consist of the letters m not less than half an inch

in height, enclosed by an interrupted circle.

(b) I n the case of any carcass of lamb the brand shall consist of

the letters TT>TT> n o t ; -6SS than three-eighths of an inch in height, •j?CT

enclosed by an interrupted circle.

(3.) The brand shall be applied to the following parts, whether

separate or otherwise, of the carcass:—

(a ) I n the case of beef and Teal—

(i) on the upper surface of the tongue; and

(i i) on the buttock, flank, outside of the ribs and

shoulder of each side of the carcass.

(h) I n the case of an unflayed carcass of veal, on the brisket and

the innerside of the flank on each side of the carcass;

(c) I n the case of pork, on the cheek, hand, loin, and leg on

each side of the carcass, and

(d!) I n the case of mutton or lamb, on the buttock, outside of the

ribs and shoulder, on each side of the carcass.

(i.) Any person, other than a Meat Inspector, who brands meat

with a prescribed brand, shall be guilty of an offence.

(5.) I n this regulation lamib means the carcass or par t of a carcass

of a sheep up to, but not including, the age known as two-toothed.
