MEAT INDUSTRY AUTHORITY (AMENDMENT)

| An Act to extend the classes of slaughtering places required to be licensed under the Meat Industry Authority Act, 1970, and to make further provisions with respect to the importation of meat into New South Wales; for these purposes to amend that Act; and for purposes connected therewith. D E it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by
and with the advice and consent of the Legislative
Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales inParliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as
follows: —
1. This Act may be cited as the "Meat Industry
Authority (Amendment) Act, 1975".
2. (1) Except as provided in subsection ( 2 ) , this Act
shall commence on the date of assent to this Act.
(2 ) Section 4 shall commence on such day as may be appointed by the Governor in respect thereof and as may be notified by proclamation published in the Gazette.
3 . The Meat Industry Authority Act, 1970, is amended
by omitting from the definition of "slaughtering place" in
section 4 the words "for sale".
4. The Meat Industry Authority Act, 1970, is further
amended—
(a)
by omitting from section 41 (1) the words "in such circumstances as may be prescribed and" and by inserting instead the words "on land that has been, or premises that have been, approved by the Authority for the purposes of this section or in such other circumstances as may be prescribed and unless";
(b ;
| (b) | by inserting after section 41 (2) the following subsection :— |
(3) In any proceedings against any person for a contravention of or a failure to comply with subsection ( 1 ) , the onus of proof that any animal was slaughtered on land that has been, or premises that have been, approved by the Authority shall be on the defendant.
