MEAT INDUSTRY ACT 1978—REGULATION
(Relating to the calculation of meat industry levy)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Meat Industry Act 1978, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

The Meat Industry Levy Regulation 1985 is mended by inserting after
clause 3 the following clause:
Rate of meat industry Bevy
3A. (1) For the purposes of section 59A (2) (a) of the Act, the rate of 1 cent for each stock unit equivalent of carrying capacity of the land is
prescribed.
(2) For the purposes of section 59A (2) (b) of the Act, the amount of
$110 is prescribed.
EXPLANTORY NOTE
The object of this Regulation is to mend the Meat Industry Levy Regulation
1985 so as:
(a) to increase the rate of the meat industry levy (from 0.9 to 1 cent for each stock unit equivalent of carrying capacity of the land); and
(b) to increase the maximum levy payable (from $100 to $110).
The amount of the levy calculated at the higher rate will be payable unless that
amount exceeds $110 in which case $110 will be the maximum amount payable.

The current rate and maximum levy payable are specified in section 59A (2) of
the Meat Industry Act 1978. That section allows for a different rate and different
maximum levy to be prescribed.
