EXPLANATORY NOTE
The object of this Regulation is to repeal the Meat Industry (Nomination of Panel) Regulation 1978 and to replace it with this Regulation which is in the same terms as the Regulation to be repealed.
The Regulation to be repealed currently prescribes the organisations engaged in the meat industry which, under section 45 of the Act, are entitled to nominate representatives to the panel from which the appointment of 3 members of the Meat Industry Authority are made.
This Regulation is in substantially the same terms as that Regulation, the only minor changes being the inclusion of the NSW Domestic Abattoirs Association in the list of organisations which operate an abattoir and which can nominate representatives to the panel from which certain members of the Authority are appointed, the inclusion of the Australian Lot Feeders Association in the list of organisations otherwise engaged in the meat industry and which can nominate representatives to the panel, and the updating of the name of the NSW Farmer’s Association.
This Regulation is made in connection with the staged repeal of subordinate legislation under the Subordinate Legislation Act 1989, and comprises matters of a machinery nature.
