Meat Chicken Levy Regulations2 (Amendment)

I, The Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council and having taken into consideration a recommendation made to the Minister for Primary Industries and Energy by the Australian Chicken Meat Federation, make the following Regulations under the Meat Chicken Levy Act 1969.

1.   Commencement

1.1   These Regulations (except regulation 4) commence on

1 July 1997.

1.2   Regulation 4 commences on 1 July 1998.

2.   Amendment

2.1   The Meat Chicken Levy Regulations are amended as set out in these Regulations.

3.   Regulation 4 (Prescribed amounts: subsection 7 (1) of the Act)

3.1   Omit the regulation, substitute:

Prescribed amounts of levy

 “4. (1) For paragraph 7 (1) (a) of the Act, 0.195 cents is prescribed.

[Note: The levy mentioned in subregulation (1) is attached to the Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation—see section 6 of the Primary Industries and Energy Research and Development Act 1989 and regulation 9C of the Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation Regulations.]

 “(2) For paragraph 7 (1) (b) of the Act, 0.024 cents is prescribed.

[Note: The levy mentioned in subregulation (2) is to fund the Australian Animal Health Council.]”.

4.   Regulation 4 (Prescribed rates of levy)

4.1   Subregulation 4 (2):

Omit “0.024 cents”, substitute “0.0132 cents”.
