No. 32 of 1968

An Ordinance to amend the Meat Ordinance 1931-1966.

1.—(1.) This Ordinance may be cited as the Meat Ordinance

1968.*
(2.) The Meat Ordinance 1931-1966f is in this Ordinance referred to as the Principal Ordinance.

(3.) The Principal Ordinance, as amended by this Ordinance, may be cited as the Meat Ordinance 1931-1968.

2. Section 4 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by inserting after the definition of " Regulations " the following definition:—

" ' The Director' means the person for the time being occupying, or performing the duties of, the office of Commonwealth Director of Health for the Territory;".

3 . Section 6 of the Principal Ordinance is repealed and the follow­ ing section inserted in its stead:—
" 6.—(1.) The Director-General and the Director each has all the powers and may perform all the functions conferred by this Ordinance on any officer or person.

" (2.) If the exercise of a power or the performance of a function is dependent upon the opinion, belief or state of mind of an officer or other person in relation to a matter then, the exercise of that power or the performance of that function by the Director-General or the Director, by reason of the last preceding sub-section, depends upon the opinion, belief or state of mind in relation to that matter of the Director-General or the Director, as the case may be.".

4. After section 19 of the Principal Ordinance the following section is inserted:—
" 19AA.—(1.) The Director-General may, by instrument in writing, delegate to a person, all or any of his powers or functions under this Ordinance (except this power of delegation) either generally or other­ wise as provided in the instrument of delegation.
" (2.) A power or function so delegated may be exercised or per­
formed by the delegate in accordance with the instrument of delegation.
" (3.) A delegation under this section is revocable at will and does

not prevent the exercise of a power or the performance of a function by

the Director-General.".
