MARRIAGE (AMENDMENT) ACT.

Act No. 1, 1934.

An Act to validate certain marriages before Registrars; to amend the Marriage Act, 1899; and for purposes connected therewith. [Assented to, 13th June, 1934.]

BE it enacted by the King 's Most Excellent Majesty, lative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South b y and with t h e advice and consent of t he Legis­ Wales in Par l iament assembled, and by the au thor i ty of
t he same, as follows :—
1. (1) This Act m a y be cited as the " M a r r i a g e

(Amendment ) Act, 1934."

(2) The Mar r i age Act, 1899, as amended by sub­ sequent Acts and th is Act, m a y be cited as the Mar r i age Act, 1899-1934.

The Mar r i age Act, 1899, is amended by inser t ing n e x t af ter section seventeen the following new section:—

17A. (1) No mar r i age celebrated by a dis t r ic t

r e g i s t r a r shall be deemed to be or be declared invalid on the ground t h a t because the intended wife did not a t the t ime of making the declara t ion set for th in the Second Schedule to this Act, o rd inar i ly reside within the dis t r ic t of such r eg i s t r a r , he h a d no

(2) This section extends to mar r i ages cele­

b r a t e d before as well as to mar r i ages celebrated
a f t e r the commencement of the Mar r i age (Amend­
m e n t ) Act, 1934.
